Thunder World, Ooty


Also know as Dinosaur Park, Thunder World is a themed amusement park located in Ooty. Thunder World connects you with the past era where dinosaur exists. It creates an illusion about the world of spirit. Divided into many smaller parts, Thunder World is fun for children as well as adults. Here are a few important and must-know pieces of information-

How to reach there

The park is located in Mani Vihar in Ooty. And there are various means to reach the Thunder World. One can take an auto-rickshaw which will directly drop you to Thunder World. Also, it is within walking distance from Ooty Lake.



Visitor Duration

The park is spread in a small area and to enjoy the full premises, we would suggest you take 2-3 hours.


Timing and Fees

The Park is generally open from 10AM till 5PM, which might extend if its a summer. The entry fees for the park(excluding rides) is around Rs. 50. Though entry fees are subject to change.


Sections in Park

There are various sections in the Park-

  • Jurassic Jungle - Jurassic Jungle consists of various Dinosaur Model ranging from 40 feet to 60 feet tall of which around 12 are movable.
  • Vortex- The  Vortex is where visitors can capture breath-taking photographs amid 3D paintings that create some interesting illusional effects. 
  • Haunted House- Decorated on a Dinosaur theme, Haunted House is one of the most amazing things to go to when there.


Pros

  • Models- The Dinosaur Model in the Park are of unique architecture bought from China.
  • Educational- The Dinosaur Model helps us learn various facts about the dinosaur and earth's past.
  • Food- Inside the Park, there are few places where we can get good street-style food.


Cons

  • Not clean- The Park is a bit unclean and not maintained properly.


Nirvana Travel Tips

  • Carry water bottles- We would advise people to carry water bottles. Though you can get it from one of the shops inside the Park as well.
  • Avoid going on weekends- To avoid the crowd of holiday-makers on weekends, we would advise people to visit this place on weekdays.
