How to reach there

Arboretum Garden is located in a walkable distance from Ooty Bus Stand. There are few other ways to reach the Arboretum Garden, which includes either via own vehicle or taxi.

Visitor Duration

The Garden contains a wide range of exotic plants and trees along with information about each of them. To enjoy and learn from its premises, we would suggest you to take 1 hour.


Timing

The garden is open from Monday to Sunday from 9AM till 5PM.

Pros

  • Exotic Plants- Various tree species of native and exotics are grown in the Arboretum. Alnus nepalensis, Callistemon, Lanceolatus, Cupressus macrocarpa, Eugenia apiculata, Hypericum hookerianum, Poocarpus elongate, Populus deltodes, Quercus macrocerpa, Salix babylonica, Taxodum mucronatum, Prunus pissodii are few species found here. 
  • Shows- Once in a year, Arboretum hosts shows like Rose Garden, Fruit Garden etc. which is quite famous.
  • Clean- The Garden is quite clean and well managed.


Cons

  • Remote Place- The Garden is located on the outskirts of the city.

  • Carry water bottles- We would advise people to carry water bottles. There are no shops near to the Garden.
  • Avoid going on weekends- To avoid the crowd of holiday-makers on weekends, we would advise people to visit this garden on weekdays.

Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bangalore (VITM), a constituent unit of National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was established in memory of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya.  The building, with a built-up area of 4,000 m 2  (43,000 sq ft), was constructed in  Cubbon Park .
