The planetarium is located on the T. Chowdiah Road of Bangalore is a popular tourist attraction. It was established in 1989 by the Bangalore City Corporation. It is one of the amazing things for a tourist to explore. The Sky Theatre being the show stealer of all. How to reach there


The planetarium is located in the heart of the city of Bangalore. There are a few ways to reach the planetarium. Few of which are by taking the nearby metro, which is Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Metro Station. The planetarium is just 2kms from the railway station. It can also be reached via public buses and cabs. Bangalore has the facility of Ola and Uber along with many recognized hire cabs.



Visitor Duration


The planetarium has few theatres and some real-life science examples, and to full excursion of its premises, we would suggest you take 3-4 hours. The Planetarium is open throughout the week except for Mondays.

Timing and Fees


The Planetarium is open every day except Mondays and Second Tuesdays from 10 AM to 5:30 PM. The entry fees for the planetarium is Rs.50 for adults and Rs.30 for children. Though entry fees are subject to change.

Shows


The Planetarium is famous for different shows it broadcast. They are-

  • Exploring the Universe- This show gives an idea of the universe we live in. It runs at 12:30PM in Kannada Language and at 4:30PM in the English Language.
  • Dawn of Space Age- The show begins by taking a look at the initial attempts in space explorations, gradually moving towards the first successful satellite launch, moon landings and so on.
  • Natural Selection- Natural Selection focuses on showcasing how Charles Darwin came to propose his Theory of Evolution.
  • Know your Stars- Know Your Stars is a show that is conducted on the first Sunday of each month and is performed in collaboration with the Association of Bangalore Amateur Astronomers (ABAA).

  • Educational- The Planetarium shows, and the pieces of equipment, present there gives a lot of knowledge of how science works around us.
  • Clean- The Planetarium is very clean and properly managed by the Bangalore City Corporation.
  • Knowing Space- The shows give a wide overview of how they are formed and how we evolved.


Cons


  • No more than 2 tickets- Only 2 tickets can be issued for a single person. For people coming into a group, it is advised to pre-book the tickets.
  • Food Not Allowed- Any food item is not allowed inside the Planetarium. If one purchase anything, make sure to consume it before.

  • Mobiles on Silent- It is advised to keep mobiles on silent or vibration to avoid disturbing other people in the duration of the show.
